About the Bobby Scheme
The Bobby scheme is a practical service providing home security, long-life smoke alarms and peace of mind for needy, elderly and vulnerable victims of burglary.
Burglary can be a devastating experience, causing turmoil, depression and some-times resulting in stress-related illness. For those living alone it may undermine their confidence to continue living independently.
Temporary Vacancy – Bobby Scheme Administrator – Eastleigh – 3 month contract Sickness Cover
A vacancy has arisen for a Temporary Bobby Scheme Administrator to work at the Blue Lamp Trust offices, Steele Close, Eastleigh SO53 5AA. The post is a three month temporary contract to cover projected sickness absence of the post holder.
The post holder will generally work 30 hours over five days a week – Monday to Friday – with a working day 0930-1600 hrs (exact hours may be negotiable).
Salary will be £13,390 pa pro-rata (£8.58 ph) plus holidays
Familiarisation training will be provided.

How the Scheme Works
The Bobby Scheme operates throughout Hampshire (including Southampton and Portsmouth) and takes client referrals from a wide range of agencies. At the earliest opportunity, a visit from one of our trained fitters is arranged and he carries out a full crime-prevention survey, fitting appropriate locks, spy-holes, door chains and, where practical, making good the damage caused on entry by the burglar. The Bobby Fitters are uniformed and carry ID cards to reassure our clients and the service is free of charge.
We also fit ‘Key Safes’ but usually seek a £30 donation.
The Fitter spends time with each victim, giving both general reassurance to help them come to terms with the experience and also specific crime-prevention advice to improve the safety of their homes.

Referrals are usually made via one of a number of agencies, or by contacting the Bobby Scheme directly. Referrals can now be made online, using the online referral form.

Bobby Scheme's Growing Success
Over the last 12 months we have carried out Home Safety and Security Surveys and associated works at over 1700 homes in Hampshire, Portsmouth & Southampton. Over the next year we aim to do even better.

Not only does the Bobby Scheme bring peace of mind and help reduce the fear of crime but it also has a substantial effect in reducing repeat victimisation.
Our aim is to restore victims' confidence and enable them to carry on living independently and to restore a sense of security within their own home.
