Peter Cooper Motor Group Supports Safer Homes This October

This October, Peter Cooper Motor Group is supporting our Safe Home service with a generous £5,000 donation, helping fund a month of visits by our Safety Technician, Mick, across the Southampton-to-Portsmouth area.

Established in 1981, the family-owned automotive business serves communities across the South Coast. Its contribution will help bring tailored safety advice, practical security improvements and reassurance to older and vulnerable residents, free of charge. Each visit provides an opportunity to listen to someone’s concerns, identify risks and take steps to make their home safer.

For someone who feels vulnerable at home, this personal support can help restore confidence and support their independence. We’re grateful to Peter Cooper Motor Group for its commitment to local communities and for helping us reach people who need that extra care and reassurance.

Safe Home offers free home safety visits for older people and vulnerable residents throughout Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

Our trained, police-vetted Safety Technicians carry out a full home security and fire safety assessment. They provide personalised advice and, where needed, install items such as:
 
  • Door and window locks
  • Spyholes and door chains
  • Long-life smoke alarms
  • Carbon monoxide detectors
  • Other approved safety equipment
Who It's For

This service is free for those who qualify.

Safe Home is available to residents who are:

Vulnerable Adults:

  • Over 65’s
  • With learning disabilities
  • Suffering from addiction
  • With long-term illnesses
  • With mental health difficulties such as dementia, bipolar disorder, etc.
  • Living in hazardous or unsafe living conditions
  • Who are self-neglecting
  • Who are financially disadvantaged (Self-referral not accepted – referral must come from a support service provider or food bank)

Referrals can be made by individuals, family members, friends, carers, housing officers, medical professionals, support workers or community organisations.

We can also supply and fit:

Alongside our free Safe Home service, we can also provide a range of additional security products at a cost, available to purchase directly through our Safety Technicians during your visit.

The police-approved Supra C500 Key Safe is available for £65, helping carers, family members and emergency services gain secure access when needed.

The Ring Battery Video Doorbell is available for £115, providing additional security and peace of mind around your home.

We can now also offer:

TV Simulators – £10 Designed to give the appearance that someone is at home by simulating the light produced by a television – particularly useful when you are away.

Additional Ring Cameras – £100 Add extra coverage around your property and help monitor other areas of your home.

Ring Chimes – £35 Hear alerts from your Ring devices more clearly from around the home.

Professionally trained, including fire safety advice by Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, and willing to share their expertise to improve people’s home safety and security.

In addition to one-to-one home visits, our safety technicians regularly deliver talks to local groups.
