Safe Online

Free online safety visits and guidance for older and vulnerable residents across Hampshire.

Safe Online is a completely free service offered by the Blue Lamp Trust across Hampshire.

Our trained, police-vetted volunteer advisers visit homes to deliver practical, easy-to-understand online safety advice. We help people protect themselves from scams, fraud, identity theft and other threats to their digital security.

During each visit or session, our advisers will:

  • Explain what online scams, fraud and phishing look like
  • Help check and adjust privacy and security settings
  • Show how to spot suspicious emails, texts or calls
  • Offer guidance on safe passwords, software updates and antivirus tools
  • Signpost additional support and resources
  • Advise how to report incidents
Who It's For

This service is completely free for those who qualify.

Safe Online is available to adults in Hampshire who meet at least one of these criteria:

  • Over 60
  • Living with a disability
  • A past victim of online fraud or cyber-enabled crime

Referrals can be made by individuals, family members, friends, carers, housing officers, medical professionals, support workers or community organisations.

Our Advisers

Every Safe Online visit is conducted by a police-vetted adviser trained in digital safety best practices.

Talks & Community Sessions

In addition to one-to-one home visits, our advisers regularly deliver talks to local groups.

These sessions cover topics such as:

  • Recognising scams
  • Safe online transactions
  • Protecting accounts and devices
  • Reporting fraud

If your group would like a Safe Home talk, contact us to arrange a visit by emailing safeonline@bluelamptrust.org.uk or call 0300 777 0157

Safe Online helps people feel confident, protected and informed in their digital lives.

As more of our lives move online, vulnerability to scams, fraud and identity theft increases, especially for older people who may be less familiar with evolving technologies.
