Q: Who is eligible for Safe Home?
Service is free to adults in Hampshire and Isle of Wight who meet one or more of the following:
Vulnerable Adults:
Disabled
Victim of burglary
Repeat victim of crime
Victim of domestic abuse (Self-referral not accepted – must come from police or domestic abuse support team)
Q: Can I refer someone outside Hampshire or the Isle of Wight?
No, Safe Home operates only in Hampshire or the Isle of Wight.
Q: Can someone refer on behalf of another person?
Yes, a family member, friend, carer, support worker, GP, or charity can refer someone, as long as that person meets eligibility and consents.
Q: What if the client is a tenant?
You will need permission from the landlord for any work we do. Because our service is free, landlords usually consent, but you must have permission first.
Q: How do I book a Safe Home visit?
You can make a referral via our online referral form, and a member of staff will then contact the client arrange a visit. If you cannot make a referral online please call 0300 777 0157 and speak to a member of the team.
Q: Do I need to be at home for the visit?

Q: Who carries out the visits?
A trained, uniformed, and police-vetted Safety Technician will complete the visit. They will carry Blue Lamp Trust ID and inform you of their name before attending.
Q: What items and services are normally included free of charge?
Q: Do you install CCTV?
No. We do not fit or repair CCTV systems, nor do electrical works.
Q: Do you install external lighting?
No. We do not install external lighting.
Do you repair windows, walls or do general handyman work?
No. Safe Home is not a repair or handyman service. We cannot carry out glazing, structural or electrical works.
What type of key safe do you install?
We supply and fit Supra C500 Pro KeySafe, a police preferred key safe. The supply and fit costs £65.
Q: Does the key safe have a warranty?
Yes, 5 years warranty covering faulty operation or installation by us.
Q: Can you supply a video doorbell?
Yes, we install a Ring video doorbell. The supply and fit costs £115.
Q: Does the video doorbell require a subscription?
The Ring video doorbell comes with a 30-day free trial of Ring Protect Basic. After that, a subscription (currently £4.99/month) is required for advanced features. Basic features (live view, notifications, two-way talk) still work without subscription.
Q: Will the video doorbell work without an ongoing subscription?
Yes. Without the Ring Protect Basic subscription standard features include instant notifications, live view and two-way talk.

Q:Do you supply a chime or additional cameras?
We do not supply a chime or additional cameras. These can be purchased separately from retailers.
Q:Will the video doorbell be set up for me?
The Safe Home Safety Technicians will assess that the location / property is suitable and if the WiFi strength is strong enough before fitting.
Once fitted the Safe Home Safety Technicians will guide the client in how to set up functions such as; motion zones, greying out recording areas, setting recording sensitivity and downloading data.
Q: What are the technical requirements for installing a Ring doorbell?
Q: Does the video doorbell come with warranty?
Yes, 1 year manufacturer warranty on Ring video doorbell.
Q: How is my data handled?
All personal data is handled in line with data protection laws and our privacy policy.
Q: What should I do if I have a complaint?
Submit your complaint in writing to safehome@bluelamptrust.org.uk or by post to Blue Lamp Trust, c/o Police & Fire HQ, Leigh Road, Eastleigh, SO50 9SJ. Complaints received after this time may not be considered. We aim to acknowledge receipt within 2 working days.
Complaints regarding fundraising practice should be made in writing to the above address. Concerns about the Trust’s handling of fundraising practice complaints can be made to the Fundraising Regulator.
Q: Can you come to talk at my community group?
